Now measure and mark the shelf and routing jig for the center of thickness.

Screw the routing jig to the back of your shelf while aligning the center marks on your routing jig to the center marks on your shelf.

Screw the drilling jig to the back of your shelf and be sure to line it up with the notches in the routing jig.

ROUTER YOUR SHELF FOR RECESSED BRACKET

Click the right arrow for step by step instructions

Measure the back of your shelf and mark the center point of your shelf length. Note: If you already screwed the routing jig to your shelf as instructed for drilling for your bracket rods then skip to the last step since your routing jig will already be fastened to the back of your shelf

Measure and mark the center of the routing jig.

Now measure and mark the shelf and routing jig thickness center.

Screw the routing jig to the back of your shelf while aligning the center marks on your routing jig to the center marks on your shelf.

MOUNT THE BRACKET TO YOUR WALL

Click the right arrow for step by step instructions

Determine your desired location for your shelf.

With your pencil, mark where the left and right edge of the shelf will be.

Now that you know where the left and right edge of the shelf will be, next step is to mark with your pencil where the center of the shelf will be.

Using a level and pencil, draw a horizontal line marking where the top of the bracket will be.

Using a stud finer and pencil, mark the outside edges of the studs.

Place your bracket on the wall aligning the center of the bracket with your center line you drew from step 3 and align the top of the bracket with the horizontal line from step 4.

Using a power drill and supplied screws and drill bit, drill the screws into the studs. Note: You only have to drill screws along the top of the bracket.

Slide your shelf onto the bracket - You're done!

What separates the Studlock Bracket from other Floating Shelf Brackets?

2 MAIN REASONS TO USE STUDLOCK BRACKETS

1. Place your shelf where you want to not where you have to: With Studlock's patent pending design of a hole every inch, you can mount the bracket anywhere along the wall and be able to drill into a wall stud.

2. Heavy Duty Weight Rating:  The Studlock bracket is made for industrial use and can hold up to 50 pounds per stud (every 16") which means you can load up your shelves with heavy plates, bowls, books, and any other heavy decor items and not worry about your shelf sagging or falling off the wall.

Choosing your Bracket Length

Our bracket lengths range from 10" to 70". To determine the length you need, follow this simple rule: Your shelf length must be a minimum of 2" longer than your bracket length.  Refer to the image table here to see all the bracket size options and the corresponding shelf lengths for each side.

Choosing your Support Rod Length

We offer 3 lengths of support rods to allow for a variety of shelf depths. The lengths we offer are 4", 6", and 8". To determine the correct length of shelf rod, follow this simple rule: Your shelf depth must be a minimum of 1" deeper than the support rod.

The Studlock floating shelf brackets will support shelves up to 12" deep. Note: We here at Ultra Shelf use the 6" rod length for all our shelves over 7" but we offer an 8" rod in case you feel you need extra support.

What's Included with your shelf bracket

DRILLING JIG

1 drilling jig is included in each floating shelf bracket order. The drilling jig assists you in drilling straight holes into your floating shelf and is sized properly to give it a tight fit for the shelf support rods to prevent sagging. The drilling jig is sized to fit a 13/16" auger bit. You can purchase the auger bit by clicking here

The drilling jig also includes 2 screws to secure it to the back of your floating shelf while drilling.

Although one drilling jig is included for free with your bracket order, if you need an additional jig, you can purchase one by clicking here.

MOUNTING SCREWS

Wood screws to mount your floating shelf to your wall studs are included with each bracket. We supply 2 screws for each support rod. For example, if your floating shelf bracket has 4 support rods, you will have 8 screws which will give you extra screws than what's needed for studs spaced at 16" apart. The pre-drilled bracket holes are designed specifically to fit the screws we supply which are a #10 x 2-1/2" long exterior wood screw. The head of the screw is tapered and locks into the pre-drilled hole of the bracket when securely fastened to the stud preventing the screw from slipping out of the top opening of the hole.

    Should have started here

Tried to do my own. Should have started here. Great build quality and easy to install. Definitely recommend buying the Drill bit guide to go with it. Should have spent a little money to save a lot of headache.

    Exactly what we needed.

We had been looking for a long time for shelving that we could trust and would fit the area we had. Finally found it and they are wonderful.

High quality, but can be tricky

I love the concept of this bracket in theory. Everything was high quality and extremely sturdy, which is awesome. However, in my case I'm using these on a solid wood shelf. I also bought the drill guide, and getting the shelf holes to match this bracket's 12" on center spacing is challenging. My bracket had one post that was slightly different in spacing and angled upwards very slightly. Getting the shelf all the way seated onto the bracket required lots of tiny adjustments to the drilled holes, and makes removing the shelf extremely challenging.
