Studlock DIY Bracket

The metal backing was bent but I got it strait enough to work. There were 3 prongs to hold shelf but the middle one broke. The outer ones work for holding the shelf though. So it works.

The floating shelf brackets were so easy to use. They made installation a breeze.

A little bit of a learning curve with the router so make sure you practice on a different piece of wood before committing to your shelf piece if you are not experienced! Used a piece of poplar sourced from Etsy but it came out beautiful.

The bracket is well made and delivered promptly. I ordered the routing jig, auger bit and drilling jig. The directions were well laid out and easy to follow. Routing the inset was fine. The jig was helpful. The most difficult part of the project was drilling the holes. I needed to drill 4 - 6" holes for the 48" shelfs. The shelfs are hardwood butcher block. The auger bit alone could not handle the job. It seemed to be too aggressive and get jammed in the wood. I used a regular 1/2" drill bit and followed with the 9/16 bit. Overall the bracket kit is very well thought out and works really well once mounted and set up. The two areas that gave me some trouble are the drill bit and the drill bit guide. The drill guide is made of aluminum and the bit of steel, and because steel is much harder it ate up the aluminum pretty quickly causing it not to guide the bit perfectly. The little **** end on the bit was also a bit of an issue in really hard wood. I built my shelf out of walnut and once that little **** caught it would pull the wood up with some serious torque. I clamped it down to a work bench and it picked up the whole 70lb bench along with the shelf. There is also no stop collar provided incase you wanted to end the whole at a particular depth. The router guide worked perfectly. No complaints. Overall still really satisfied with the product but most issues would be resolved by replacing drill guide with a steel version, and less agressive bit, and providing a stop collar for the bit.

These are well made and very easy to install. Get the template and drilling guides to make things go even faster.Makes for a simple and clean install.

It worked great as designed. It comes with the single drilling jig. Unless you are absolutely perfect on making the additional holes line up (I had to make a jig), just buy theirs and be done. I still had to wallow out two of my four hole bracket to get it in the board. I was off maybe 1/32 on them. That was my fault for trying to cut corners on cost.

I ordered the hardware for the 16" bracket along with the router and drill bit and drill guide. The first shelf went flawlessly. The second one was a bit more of a hassle. Even though I used the drill guide one of the holes had a bit of an angle and the bracket wouldn't slip on. I ended up spending time just using a rasp in the holes until it slid on. Mounting was a breeze even though I only had one stud, used some toggle bolts with a flathead machine **** and they worked perfectly. Would order again for sure, just being a lot more careful to drill straight, maybe finding someone with a drill press with a big enough throat to be 100% accurate.

Nice heavy duty floating shelf brackets for my custom made wood shelves! At first, I was worried about the excessive play between the Jig opening and the bracket rods, but turns out that a tighter fit would have been bad. The finish fit between holes drilled in the wood and the metal rods was perfect with just enough friction to slide the shelves on & off if needed. So no need to worry when the jig opening size seems a little oversized in diameter.

I just recently installed some shelving using these brackets. The part that was challenging for me was using several brackets on the same shelf as I was hanging 2 - 10 foot pieces along a 20 foot wall. It came out well in the end but was a real wrestling match to get the brackets aligned on a wall that wasn't completely flat with 2 pieces of 2 thick oak that wasn't completely flat. Since these things are the unknown variables and can't be avoided, I realized what would help is if the solid metal rods had a cone shape at the end so that it would be easier to get them in the holes. I know that would make them more labor intensive to make, but I think that would make them 5 stars for me.Otherwise, I like the fact that there were **** holes every inch and they feel very sturdy.

the brackets were bowed slightly and a little bent making them hard to install. it took some convincing but I got them up in the end.

This is the perfect bracket if U have a router or router table. The bracket is very strong but may not be for a novice. However, I did not purchase their alignment tools.

This is the second time we ordered floating shelf brackets. The first shelves looked so great and were easy to install we wanted to add more to our kitchen. We love that the product is made in Idaho! Thank you!

Horrible. My experience was terrible. I ordered 9 brackets to install floating shelves in my home. Trouble started from the beginning. The brackets never arrived. They reshipped them and then the routing jig arrived broken. I ordered the routing jig and bit, as well as the bracket drill guide and drill bit. 1. The bit would not go through the drill guide. The bit was bigger than the guide.2. The routing jig was manufactured wood, so the routing bit would get caught on and cut up the jig.3. The brackets themselves were ****. I got the 46 ones. The rods on the brackets were not attached to the brackets straight. This meant that when the rod went into the shelf hole, it would not go in past an inch or so. The slightly off angle of multiple rods on each bracket kept them from going on the shelf.4. When I reached out to customer service about this, I was told that, The metal has a natural flex to it, but should not cause any installation issues. The flex in the brackets was not the issue, it was the misalignment of the rods. They refunded the jig and bits, but said that I would have to ship the brackets back (on my dime) in order to get a refund.5. After spending countless hours and money on faulty product, as well as more money on bits to fix what their crappy bits couldn't do, I am fed up. I am out $400+ on faulty product and costumer support has done nothing to make it right.

Rods were not perpendicular to the back and the back was not flat at all.

I think this bracket was perfect for the job and reasonably priced. I didn't buy the router jig or bit so free-handing that was a little fun! The only thing I wished it came with was a printed template to mark the holes for the rods so I could mount the drill jig centered. Otherwise, great product.
